Can-C contains the following ingredients:
N-a-Acetyl-Carnosine (NAC) 1.0% (approved by IVP)
Glycerin (lubricant) 1.0%
Carboxymethylcellulose sodium (lubricant) 0.3%
The N-acetylcarnosine (NAC) is the business end of the eye-drop, helping as it does to correct age aging problems and even reverse some conditions- such as cataract. For more details about what Can-C can be useful for please see: Why are Can-C eye-drops used?
The NAC in Can-C is of a unique quality produced in Japan under pharmaceutical conditions; this detailed information is kept proprietary, but needless to say leads to improved efficiency and efficacy, making it suitable for long term use. For further details see: Assuring quality and safety
The lubricants of glycerine and carboxymethylcellulose make the eye-drop comfortable and protect against problems such as dry eyes and irritation. What is more with their unique viscosity they also actually help carry more of the NAC into the eye, this has been proven in experiments and is part of the reason that the actual formula can be as important as the quality of the ingredients.
The excipients (carriers) used are:
Sterile water (ophthalmic grade isotonic solution, pH 6.3 to 6.5)
Purified benzyl alcohol
Other ingredients are necessary as in any formula, and Can-C contains sterile water. It also contains the buffers of potassium bicarbonate and boric acid that stabilize the Ph of the drops to 6.8 This is a most comfortable Ph and therefore most unlikely to produce side effects such as stinging or irritation.
Benzyl alcohol is also used as a preservative. Benzyl alcohol is a mild preservative- without the problems associated with other “potent” preservatives. Benzyl alcohol does not cause stinging by itself, that is dependant upon the end Ph of the eye-drop and Can-C is formulated to 6.8 a level that is most unlikely to cause stinging. What’s more, benzyl alcohol at a specific purity is a great carrier, enabling fast delivery of the active ingredients into the eye (e.g. n-acetylcarnosine). In fact experiments by IVP show that Can-C delivers optimal amounts of carnosine into the eye within 15-minutes. To help keep the efficacy of the product secret the precise quality of the benzyl alcohol used is kept proprietary, but needless to say it is even above the “usual” standards used in eye-drops.
Can-C is produced under cGMP pharmaceutical and government licensed conditions, furthermore it is formulated to a very specific quality and formula; this has been accomplished after many years of research by IVP to design an efficacious (effective) product that is safe in long term use. This has only been possible after extensive in-vitro, animal and human experiments.
If you want the best possible results and long term safety, insist on the original, patented and approved eye-drop, insist on Can-C.
